A paranoid mathematician searches for a key number that will unlock the universal patterns found in nature.

    Сast and Crew

Pi features multiple references to mathematics and mathematical theories. For instance, Max finds the golden spiral occurring everywhere, including the stock market. Max's belief that diverse systems embodying highly nonlinear dynamics share a unifying pattern bears much similarity to results in chaos theory, which provides machinery for describing certain phenomena of nonlinear systems, which might be thought of as patterns. During the climactic drill scene, a pattern resembling a bifurcation diagram is apparent on Max's shattered mirror.

I didn’t understand the film, but in order to seem cool and promising, I gave it a seven. Apparently not old enough to see the cinema, where you have to turn your head on Translated to English

Aronofsky’s debut is crazy, uncomfortable, but not without its black-and-white charm. I’ll raise the rating to 7.5 out of 10. The rewatch did not open my eyes to the genius of this film, but at least for the music here you can safely give a green score. Translated to English

Interesting debut from Aronofsky. There is his characteristic presentation, the strange mathematician and the problem of the genius/the crazy one. Dark synth as a soundtrack – cool. The clumsy visuals are saved only by the atmospheric shooting and the unnatural actors also bothered me, but the poetry of the ending inspired me. Translated to English
