Sam Loudermilk, a former music critic and recovering addict-alcoholic who has not achieved anything like emotional sobriety, is a substance abuse counselor and support group leader who regularly doles out clever but acid-tongued critiques to his clients, his friends, and any random person he interacts with. Loudermilk is somewhat nicer to the few people close to him, including his best friend and (usually) sober sponsor, Ben Burns, and his sponsee and unplanned roommate, the young Claire Wilkes.

A wonderful series from the master of the comedy genre Peter Farrelly, cynicism cubed. And also, as a vinyl fan, I especially appreciate that the music in the old format is elevated to a small cult here.
The series is a real find. It inspires and hits my sense of humor. I often caught myself thinking how well it is written: the authors balance on the edge between crude jokes and topics like alcoholism, disability, and death. Local, but that’s what’s good about it.
