    Description

Eddie Murphy portrays real-life legend Rudy Ray Moore, a comedy and rap pioneer who proved naysayers wrong when his hilarious, obscene, kung-fu fighting alter ego, Dolemite, became a 1970s Blaxploitation phenomenon.

    Production

Murphy has stated that a biopic of Rudy Ray Moore had long been a dream project for him. Murphy initially met screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski in 2003 and they began developing the project. Murphy arranged a meeting between the two writers with Moore, who told him many of his life stories before his death in 2008. However, the early attempts to make the film never came to fruition.

An energetic and positive success story of a cult character for African Americans. I didn’t know about Moore, but even I saw that Murphy in his performance is chic. This is a really pleasant movie about making a film, except that all the jokes will go past the whites, but the tape will definitely lift the mood. Translated to English

Not a bad blaxploitation biopic: from the second there is complete predictability, from the first everything else: tits, funk and Pankratov-Cherny. Translated to English

A damn positive story of the ups and downs of a dark-skinned, charismatic showbiz entertainer. 8.5 out of 10 Translated to English

In general, it is average, but the film has some kind of wonderful and pleasant aura. Good Murphy and funny Snipes. Translated to English

This film is not about a twisted plot, but about an era of daring people with wild energy, and it did a great job of making you believe in the characters. The film also does a great job of representing the culture and spirit of African Americans and what makes it different from white culture Translated to English

A story about "Rags to Riches" or a guide on how to make a movie in the style of "Black Dynamite." Not as intense, but worthy of attention for those who like this kind of stuff :) Translated to English

The film is boring. The jokes weren’t fun. The idea where success can only be achieved by pretending to be a vulgar pimp does not impress. Real story? – the sadder… Translated to English

"Ed Wood" for blacks. Screenwriters continue the same line in their work ("Ed Wood", "Big Eyes", "Man on the Moon"), talking with slight irony about yet another representative of "naive" art. Eddie Murphy is great as Dolemite/Rudy Ray Moore. Translated to English

A classic, charming "success story" about a stubborn mediocrity with a good ensemble (Snipes is great) with Eddie Murphy’s finally successful role. But this is more "The Disaster Artist" than "Ed Wood". A special like for the costumes and music. Nice. Translated to English

Charging movie. And here there must be a joke about the black-black "Room" :) And it will not even be far-fetched: "Dolemite" is quite on the same level with Franco’s film. Unless Rudy is much more pleasant as a "character" than Tommy Wiseau. Translated to English

The movie is funny, kind and has its own charm. Has a surprisingly charming vulgarity. Murphy easily holds the screen on himself, as in the best of times, and does not let the viewer get bored. A nod to blaxploitation. Translated to English
