Emerald Fennell devised the concept of the film in 2017, and sold the script to Margot Robbie's production company LuckyChap Entertainment after pitching the opening scene. In January 2019, it was announced Carey Mulligan had been set to star in the film, with Fennell directing. In March 2019, Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Connie Britton, Adam Brody, Jennifer Coolidge, Laverne Cox, Max Greenfield, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Sam Richardson, and Molly Shannon joined the cast, with Angela Zhou and Clancy Brown being added in April. Principal photography began in Los Angeles on March 26, 2019, lasting 23 days. The majority of exterior shots were filmed at Campus South, part of the Lanterman property at Cal Poly Pomona.

Very non-standard, capable of surprising, but some kind of disappointing psychological under-thriller. 6.5 out of 10
Well, too naive and cinematic attempt at a revenge thriller on the topic me2. In addition, it is absolutely tasteless filmed and staged. If not for Mulligan (in an atypical, by the way, role) and slightly correcting the situation for the third act, it would be bad. And it’s just mediocre.
Interesting and dynamically presented current topic. In the middle, the plot sags and turns out to be something like a cheap melodrama, but manages to quickly normalize. There are no absolutely positive heroes here, but all men are clearly exposed as bastards. Although, I may have thought so.
Great sound, good picture and basically visual style, but… too much feminism and not enough common sense. The director directly hates the whole masculine gender and makes all men drink coffee with their saliva. Art, his mother. Mulligan is scary, yes. Oscar in the furnace.
The theme of today’s topic has allowed the average film to get to the Oscars. A film that many will forget in a year. The only positive is the performance of Carrie Mulligan. The script is pretty lame.
A very not bad thriller about a girl who kills (or not) men, and she has reasons for this. The main plus is the presence of fanservice. The main disadvantage is all the violence happens behind the scenes.
An important topic and a strange implementation. The ending is surprising, although, if you think about it, in almost every film about revenge, this very revenge is destructive for the hero. I didn’t know if I liked the movie or not, but it was fun to watch. Only it’s not a thriller, the suspense was out of place.
Goosebumps and too perfect. Cassidy is a real heroine of our time, appearing when she is not expected, and it seems that everything has calmed down. But everyone will carry their own burden. Gorgeous full-length breakthrough Fennel, it’s hard, huge work. Great respect!

Emerald Fennel 's excellent feature-length debut as a screenwriter and director. The film is thin and balanced. As soon as you start to think that the pace has dropped and the twists are over, the next one shoots. It’s hard to watch, but necessary. There is too much truth in this. 7.5.
