Hollywood Ending

Whether this is art imitating life or life imitating art, it’s an unhappy situation all around.

A xenophobic Allen may have French appeal but what if the French are just more forgiving of his dull post-Husbands and Wives output?

The comedy is perfunctory and rarely worth more than a chuckle, and all of the attacks on the film industry come across as shallow and familiar.

For a movie considerably longer than Allen’s usual 90 minutes, Hollywood Ending is curiously underdeveloped.

Though it draws several decent laughs, it’s low-cal Woody at best.

I liked the movie without loving it.

You know a romantic comedy is in trouble when you root for the hero not to get the girl.
