- Premiered in Japan on October 3, 2020 in the MBS/TBS Super Animeism block; Season 1 ran through March 27, 2021, with a near-simultaneous international simulcast and rapid rollout of multilingual dubs.
- Audience uptake was immediate: episodes routinely trended worldwide on Twitter/X during broadcast, and major arcs (including the Season 2 "Shibuya Incident") sparked weekly global discussion.
- Garnered major accolades, including Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2021 and again in 2024 (for Season 2), alongside multiple category wins and nominations.
- The TV run drove a surge in circulation and reprints of the original manga by Gege Akutami, pushing the title into the top tier of sales charts.
- Voice‑acting was widely praised in both Japanese and international dubs, fueling character popularity, cosplay trends, and convention programming.
- Success on TV expanded the franchise: the prequel film "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" became a global box‑office hit and funneled new viewers back to the series and later seasons.
- Availability broadened via major platforms (e.g., Netflix in select regions) and regional Asian services, while Japanese TV rebroadcasts kept the show in circulation between seasons.
- Home‑video releases (BD/DVD) regularly charted in Japan; the series maintained high user scores on leading anime databases.
- Pop‑cultural impact included collaborations with fashion and consumer brands, pop‑up events and exhibitions, and increased "anime tourism" to real‑world Tokyo locations such as Shibuya.
- Its action set pieces and striking opening/ending presentation became reference points in 2020s discourse, raising audience expectations for action‑fantasy TV anime.
- Season 2 (July–December 2023) sustained momentum through synchronized global distribution and strong week‑to‑week social engagement.

"X" pays off by showing what happens when characters are more than just meat for the grinder – or, for that matter, those doing the grinding.

Finally fit. The openings are super, interesting characters, a good balance of blood and really funny humor. Looking forward to continuing!
So the Shibuya Incident Arc began, the 6th series is gorgeous, they brought a new opening and ending, and the series itself is very good, slowly, introduces a new story arc.
