Casarosa stated that the movie is a celebration of friendship, and "a love letter to the summers of our youth - those formative years when you're finding yourself", inspired by his childhood in Genoa. The title character is based on Casarosa himself, while Alberto on his best friend of the same name, Alberto Surace, to whom the film is dedicated. Casarosa stated: "My best friend Alberto was a bit of a troublemaker, [while] I was very timid and had a bit of a sheltered life — we couldn't have been more different... Alberto pushed me out of my comfort zone, and pushed me off many cliffs, metaphorically and not. I probably would not be here if I didn't learn to chase my dreams from him. It's these types of deep friendships that I wanted to talk about in Luca, and that is what's at the heart of this film."

Luca, basically, is great news for film nerds and wonder-starved kids.

The kids will come in and in this capacity it is a sin to criticize Luka. But in general, the cartoon does not swim behind the buoys in order to linger in the viewer’s memory. Translated to English

Innsmouth is not what it used to be. A kind children’s story about friendship with a simple moral: xenophobia is bad. Hardly a masterpiece, more like an average. There are no deep characters and complex relationships between the characters, but they are not really needed, because in childhood everything seems easier. Translated to English

Not over the top, but a nice Pixar with a good ending. Everything is beautiful, sweet, a little touching, but there is no super-idea and genius of the level of the same Coco . You don’t get attached to the main characters. There are no special twists and shock moments in the plot. Translated to English

Adventures in a sunny Italian village on the seashore are only part of the charming program of the cartoon. The main part consists of a non-trivial idea to value friendship, and… a charming cat, based on Ron Swanson. We multiply all this by the lamp atmosphere and here it is, vero amore. Translated to English

A nice motivational cartoon with an Italian atmosphere and a slight allusion to The Little Mermaid. Translated to English

Amazing animated film from Pixar. They keep up the good work as always. Everyone noticed that the studio is changing little by little and is looking for new ways to impress its viewers. I will look forward to new projects. Luke tells us about friendship, love, as well as about parents and children. Translated to English

A beautiful cartoon, but very childish. Agitation of the school and propaganda of friendship . There is simply no other people like Italians… Translated to English

A pleasant and high-quality cartoon from Pixar, but without any surprises and interesting ideas. However, it is still better than most projects on the market. Translated to English

The cartoon is very cute, kind and cute. I thought he was saying that xenophobia is bad, and one should be friends with everyone who does not attack and is disposed to cooperate. But then I was suddenly enlightened that, it turns out, LGBT representatives believe that this is about them. Ummm, well…okay. Translated to English

Pixar has finally done something truly new in a very old genre again. Light and good. Translated to English

Beautiful family cartoon from Pixar. Watched in 2D with the whole family – enjoyed it. The picture is bright, the plot is kind and interesting. I advise you to go to the cinema. Translated to English

A very colorful, kind and cute cartoon, but it is too simple and naive, so I hardly want to rewatch it. PS And in childhood we could only dream of the Karpaty. Translated to English

The sea, the sun, two guys and a girl between them. No, this is not François Ozon. The cartoon is 7 points, but I liked it more than the Soul, which I also gave 7. Therefore, 8 points. Translated to English

A wonderful story about friendship. The first half seemed to me somehow absolutely non-Pixar, childish, naive, I began to be disillusioned with a sinful deed. But what a powerful final act, capable of breaking someone into a tear. A rustic but high-quality creation by Pixar. Translated to English

A good story about friendship and acceptance of others for who they are. Great cartoon. Translated to English

Strangest H.F. Lovecraft adaptation I’ve ever seen (and they’re all weird, they just happen to be). Simple, but soulful. Translated to English

Incredibly beautiful summer cartoon. The cartoon’s message is to treat people as they deserve, not because of their background or status. More such cartoons at 38 may not have been a genocide on a national basis. Translated to English

Cheerful hour and a half from Pixar. The main thing is not to wait for the level of "Soul" and "Coco" with philosophical themes of life and death. This is a well-considered, pleasant cartoon about more mundane topics of friendship, dreams and independence. There is also a cute cat here. Translated to English

Santa mozzarella! Filled with the magic of Italy, a sweet, simple fairy tale without infuriating photorealism about accepting yourself and against condemning others. Translated to English

Private strong Pixar. I didn’t break a tear, I didn’t evoke any deep emotions and response. Therefore only 7. Translated to English

A very positive and touching cartoon about friendship and growing up. I liked it even more than Soul. Another masterpiece from Pixar. Translated to English
