On December 5, 2001, Creature Corner.com reported that Michael Bay's newly created company Platinum Dunes (which was created in order to produce low-budget films), had set its focus on remaking The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Early announcements on the site indicated that the story would be told in flashback with actress Marilyn Burns, who starred in the original film, reprising her role as an aged Sally Hardesty recounting the events in the film. It was later announced that the filmmakers had already purchased the rights to the original film.

This is easily the most gruesome, most pointless, episode of Scooby Doo ever.

While lacking the kinetic intensity of its predecessor, this incarnation of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre gets the job done.

Not only is this useless "revision" ignorant of history, it panders to its modern audience with look-Ma visual brouhaha.

A remake that turns every kill into an opportunity for overkill.

It’s a remake, stylishly shot and with cool production design, but so annoying at times. Both the characters and individual script decisions, not to mention the completely lost atmosphere of the original. It would be fine for popcorn, but with this material it would have been possible to film something more interesting.

A more than worthy reimagining of the original, unlike any modern post-horror films for zoomers. Excellent film!

This film seems to be missing a little bit of everything. The family has lost its macabre charm in favor of realism, the murders are too routine, and the suspense is uninspiring. The sheriff is monstrous, but I’m not rooting for him here. Leatherface is impressive, but completely lacking in character. It’s not bad and it’s beautiful, but it’s completely unengaging.

Respect to the era of the coolest remakes. They won’t make a film as good as this anymore. Stylish, juicy, loud, and thrilling.

A remake of the 1974 film. One of the best slashers in the history of cinema. The cult film of 1974 became the impetus for the creation of many imitations. The murders in the film are very naturalistic, beautifully edited, quite varied, and, it is important to note, do not cause disgust.
