Paramount Pictures announced in August 2013 that Christopher McQuarrie would direct the fifth Mission: Impossible film, from a script by Drew Pearce, with Tom Cruise reprising his role as Ethan Hunt. TC Productions and Bad Robot would produce, and Skydance Productions, who served as co-financers and executive producers of the latest installment, will work closely with the team in the development and production process." On November 14, 2013, Paramount announced a release date of December 25, 2015. The same month, Simon Pegg confirmed he would reprise his role as Benji. In May 2014, Will Staples replaced Pearce as screenwriter. Also that month, Jeremy Renner confirmed he was returning in the role of William Brandt, and Cruise said the film would shoot in London, with a later report saying it would first shoot in Vienna in August. At some point, McQuarrie replaced Staples as screenwriter; the final credits list McQuarrie as screenwriter, with story by Pearce.

Not the worst film in the series. For me, the worst is still the second part. There’s some interesting action here. And the character of Rebecca Ferguson seems alive and well-written.
From this film, Cruise took on Christopher McQuarrie and the plot thread about the Syndicate begins its development. The stakes in the game are rising. In this film I discovered Rebecca Ferguson. A handsome British agent, Hunt’s new girlfriend turned out to be no mistake. I enjoyed it. Score – 9

The latest adventures, or rather, errands, of Ethan Hunt and his squad. Everything that the series is loved and criticized for is here. Ferguson, however, is a real firecracker; she’s ready for a reconnaissance mission tomorrow.

I rewatched part 5. Still, it is just a prelude to the gorgeous 6th, where everything is finally in ideal proportions. 8 out of 10 is the best rating here.

Tom Cruise wasn’t even asked to carry out the mission, but he did it anyway. People who called this franchise "mission impossible", are you normal?

This part is closest to the action-comedy genre. And it’s somehow more harmonious. Hunt here is tired, confused and mortal. Which is also more interesting. But it would be better not to show Cruise’s naked old body, in my opinion. Overall watchable, I can get the rating up to 7.

It seems that they have found the very vein of how to shoot, with whom, what plot to do, and especially plot twists. The part about the Syndicate came out cheerful and there are a minimum of sins, a lot of action, humor is present, revenge and of course the ending. We hope that old Tom Cruise will retire someday…
