After the enormous success of the first Rocky, the producers were anxious to make a sequel. Stallone again wrote the script, originally titled Rocky II: Redemption, but John G. Avildsen declined to direct again because he was busy with pre-production on Saturday Night Fever. Stallone wanted the job and waged as big a campaign as he had for the lead role in the previous film. United Artists executives were reluctant to give the actor the directing reins because, while he had previously directed the drama Paradise Alley, it was not a success. However, producers Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff understood how much of the success of the first Rocky had come from Stallone's enormous input and lobbied hard to get him the job.

More complicated compared to the first part of Rocky . The hero faces an important choice: family and health or fame and eternal problems with vision. But here, as in the movie The Wrestler, the hero begins to understand that he cannot exist without sports.
The same old shchi, but instead of the shabby earthiness of the original, the sequel is dominated by melodrama and self-repetition. Watchable, but the sequel no longer evokes the same level of emotional involvement, especially in the final fight. I’ve seen all this before, and in better performances.
The Greatest Rock. The characters' characteristics were slightly adjusted, making them more cinematic, Rocky looks more like Marciano, and Creed is just a carbon copy of Ali. The plot is very similar to the first film, but there is less soulfulness and tragedy. It is worth admitting that the fight is staged much better.
Sylvester Stallone. How did his future life develop after fate gave him one chance in a million and he took advantage of this chance? In the second part, Rocky will have to make more than one serious decision.
