Recent UCLA graduate Shane Black wrote the screenplay in mid-1985. Black stated that his intention was to do an "urban western" inspired by Dirty Harry where a violent character "reviled for what he did, what he is capable of, the things he believed in" is eventually recruited for being the one that could solve the problem. The protagonists would be everymen policemen, "guys shuffling in a town like Los Angeles searching for something noble as justice when they're just guys in washed and worn suits seeking a paycheck".

Awesome buddy movie. A beautiful, brutal, heartwarming and kind story. What’s most striking is that this is the screenwriting debut of my respected Shane Black. I like all his work, he’s handsome. Everyone in the film is handsome. The movie is cool!
A great action movie with a great cast. Even today’s action films don’t give you that kind of interest.
Perhaps the first cool Buddy movie in modern history. Shane Black wrote a cool script in which both the idea is good and the relationships between the main characters range from hatred to brotherly love. The humor is cool, I laughed a lot. Plus strong drama and cool action. I recommend
Mel Gibson. Danny Glover. One of the best representatives of the police action genre from the 80s of the last century that have gone forever from us. This is definitely not a one-time film. And from time to time, if there is a desire to feel nostalgic, you can rewatch it.
The first film of the famous buddy cop quadrology is anti–, but still a hero of Gibson, witty dialogues (killed by the translation) and a hodgepodge of comedy/action/drama. True, not without distortions. But the attitude to the action is much more important: either get high from the endless bullets and a sheaf of sparks, or get depressed
A good comedy, and we remember that comedy is the hardest thing to do well!
