A sequel-prequel soft-bootstrap about people running along corridors and xenomorphs. A cinematic munculus created by artificial intelligence, seemingly cobbled together from 3 films at once. But it’s beautiful when there’s no epileptic editing and the director doesn’t rotate the camera 5 times in a row per scene

A condensed, reverent presentation of the entire franchise, which is why it is fast-paced, fanservice, conventional, and not original. The degradation of CGI and animatronics is sad, and the "rejuvenation" of the heroes shoots itself in the foot. Scott was going in the right direction, and "Romulus" proves it. Exciting, without revelations.

The Goonies in Alien(s). As befits an attraction, it’s very bright, flashy and empty. Behind the carefully copied scenery there is nothing but mechanical suspense props in the form of a countdown and a threatening soundtrack. And you wanted mainstream with Ideas? It’s not in the interests of the companies.

A tense horror that returns the franchise to its roots. Featuring strong performances, especially from Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, and impressive effects, the film successfully builds tension, although it uses familiar tropes that can feel repetitive.
Alien: Romulus
It’s a confidently spooky, ingeniously shot, at times nerve-jangling piece of entertainment

A very worthy continuation of the Xenomorphs' adventures in space. The human heroes are not annoying, the android is a success, except that Bilbo is not finished. Otherwise, the atmosphere of complete hopelessness is conveyed well. Keep up the good work.

I’ve reached the eight-thousand rating mark on the site, and I decided to celebrate by watching something truly amazing! My choice fell on Aliens.
I first encountered them in my distant childhood, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the next film ever since. I put off Romulus for quite a while, apparently subconsciously preparing for the "eight-thousander." Looking ahead, I’ll say it wasn’t quite a success.
What’s so special about franchises? One of the things that makes sequels so derivative of the original film. And that’s not always a bad thing. It’s precisely this derivativeness that fosters fan bases and makes a franchise recognizable. Romulus has that derivativeness: it recaptures the atmosphere of the first films, the sense of uncertainty, doom, and abandonment. And in space, once again, no one can hear you scream. Facehuggers, acid, xenomorphs-it’s like stepping back into the distant 2120s.
And then the ending happens…
And then you encounter the second type of derivativeness-the kind that reeks of cheapness, the kind that’s already happened, turned out to be a failure, and now, for some reason, it’s happening again. And you don’t understand: you watched Aliens, but what is this now? It’s like REC, or Resident Evil, or Silent Hill. And that’s not bad in itself, but only when separated from the Ellen Ripley universe. Otherwise, the atmosphere is dead, science fiction becomes a hackneyed horror story. And Nostromo remains somewhere in another life…

The film can basically be considered canon. Great sound, a tense atmosphere that creates discomfort, the environment is super. Of the minuses: unclear main characters, too human xenomorphs that are slow to act, heroic inserts that break the horror, overall not bad 7-7.5.

A lot came together here, the fact that the film is in the recommendations, and that I’m preparing for the Oscars, and that it seems like a good movie and that I have some very favorite films in this series of films, and they’ll also give me a badge. Well, it’s one of those films that will probably be remembered in 2024.

The characters didn’t grab me, they were kind of faceless, the main character herself resembles Lawrence, and for me that’s just a red rag. But the director’s love for the franchise and the atmosphere are inviting, and space fantasy is a rare guest on the screens.

Borscht is everywhere: the pathos of the score is off the charts, the facial expressions of the characters overshadow the entire silent film, the atrophied Hollywood logic is in full bloom. Was there not enough graphics for Bilbo? You can’t please everyone. But it’s good that the franchise is alive and developing. An android with the eyes of an abandoned puppy surpassed the look of Puss in Boots)

If you do reboots, then only like this one, namely, those that treat the franchise with respect. It was surprising to see such a successful sequel after the shitty "Covenant". I hope the franchise will now go in the right direction. P.S. The finale was a real brick wall. Creepy.

Alvarez is certainly great that he respects the original, but I think this is too much. The film as a whole does not offer anything new, because it was shot strictly according to the canons of the genre. It came to life that at least somewhere the film will surprise… Alas.

2025. I’m just glad that the series has moved away from the Prometheus line back closer to the origins. Considering that not all the films in the original quadrology were up to par, Romulus is a worthy representative of the Aliens. Thanks to Fedya.

I read that the director was inspired by the game Alien: Isolation, so I expected something a little different. No one even sat under the table or in the closet. But I caught a lot in common with the original film. I would also like to note the characters – all bright, it’s a pity they were merged without unnecessary drama.

The best and most elaborate part of the franchise. The plot tells the story in detail between the 1st and 2nd parts.

I re-watched the film "Alien Romulus" because it was interesting to see it in 4K. A masterpiece of atmospheric horror on a big TV.

In principle it will do, there were moments as promised intersecting with the first part. Not scary, but there are "unpleasant" moments) the acting conveys the fear of what is happening well

An unexpectedly good addition to the Alien cinematic universe. The authors very successfully rethought spectacular scenes from previous films and tried not to spoil the established canon. Fans of the film series will not learn anything new from "Romulus", but they will not be disappointed.

The real Ellie Williams got out of the last of us universe and is running from the alien, it turned out great

Honestly, it could have been better. Most of the significant events were copied from the first part of the franchise. "Prometheus" and "Covenant" were more individual in the storyline.

Finally a good sequel, the film is a combo of Aliens and Resurrection. The characters are not reckless hysterics, like in Covenant, they even try to make reasonable decisions, the protagonist is essentially a "new Ripley". It looks tense. Objectively 7/10, but I’ll give it an 8.
