    Description

Stranded in 1955, Marty McFly learns about the death of Doc Brown in 1885 and must travel back in time to save him. With no fuel readily available for the DeLorean, the two must figure how to escape the Old West before Emmett is murdered.

    Production

The origins of the western theme for Back to the Future Part III lie in the production of the original film. During filming for the original, director Zemeckis asked Michael J. Fox what time period he would like to see. Fox replied that he wanted to visit the Old West and meet cowboys. Zemeckis and writer/producer Bob Gale were intrigued by the idea, but held it off until Part III. Rather than use existing sets, the filmmakers built the 1885 Hill Valley from scratch. The western scenes were filmed on location in Oak Park, California, and Monument Valley. Some of the location shooting for the 1885 Hill Valley was done in Jamestown, California, and on a purpose-built set at the Red Hills Ranch near Sonora, California. Some of the train scenes were filmed at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, a heritage line in Jamestown. Whereas the original film played to a more materialistic idea of success, Zemeckis considered Part III more of a "human journey" with spiritual overtones.

Mmm, okay, only the first part is the best. Although I like the Wild West setting, here it’s kind of finished. The Evil Dead threequel also moved to some kind of Middle Ages, and the same happened here. Also, the ending is so fucked up that I lost my love for the franchise. Translated to English

Quite a good ending to this story. The zest of the first part is missing, or I’m just used to it, IMHO. This is a good film, especially since it was most likely at its peak for that time. I recommend watching it, but I prefer part 1. 7.5/10 Translated to English

The conventions have gotten really awkward in this movie, but somehow I don’t want to pick on it again. I accepted the laws of this universe where no one recognizes each other. The rest of the film is good. This is a light, funny and exciting Western with plenty of gunplay. Translated to English
